Gio Limited Edition Black Cherry Wine RHT Stockings

I haven’t reviewed Gio in SUCH A LONG TIME, due to a series of poor quality stockings. I gave up with them as they just became useless and their quality absolutely sucked. So I am hoping (after many changes of hands) they have upped their game.

My Outfit

I wanted to style these slightly different to how I usually would (with a flowy skirt or dress) – I went with my floral dress instead and I added mules to show off the RHT element to the stockings.

The Review

From The Website: Black Cherry Wine Stockings is a very rich and extravagant name for any hosiery, but here it is purely descriptive, and spot on. These are one of the most sumptuous of the Limited Edition collection. A dark and fruity claret red, and just like its namesake, it is sweet and bold and rich. Ideal for Christmas or frosty winter days. This version is the full contrast version, so its is a uniform ocean of red wine.

The Packaging

Getting Them On: with any ff stockings I roll on, I always get the hosiery gloves out. As my nails are pretty long right now, I have to take extra care getting these on. I did my scrunch and roll, and slowly glided these beauties on. So far so good, which I am pleased with.

These were fine going over my anklets too; I made sure to pull them over my anklets rather than grazing across, so it doesn’t end up catching or damaging my stockings.

On The Legs: well let me get started and talk to you all about this gorgeous colour. I love this shade; it would work so well for Christmas but I wanted to dress them into Spring/Summer to show you how great this colour can be. I love that it does shade slightly different, which you will see as you scroll further down from a lovely dark cherry to a lighter shade. I don’t mind that at all, as it keeps it interesting.

The quality of these lacked again for me. I get that being 100% nylon they are going to be delicate, but I managed to snag these up so much by doing so little. I spent most of my day sitting down, and I still managed to do some damage. I also see those lines up the legs, which I can’t seem to get rid of either. It’s a shame because they are so beautiful, but it’s incredible how delicate they have become.

The fit of these were slightly too big for me. I thought XS would be too tight, so I opted for Small. But I found that the feet were quite big for me, and I did have some gapping on the legs too. I don’t mind it to be fair, but now I wish I wore it vintage style instead of with something fitted, so it doesn’t look off.

The feel of these are super soft, and really silky on the legs. I had no problems with it irritating the skin. They were a dream to touch, but I kept my hands away for most of the day when I started seeing snags appear.

The Toes & Ankle: as you can see below, these come with a reinforced toe and heel to them. Around the toes, they were pretty big, and baggy too, so I did have to tuck the excess under my toes when slipping into my mules.

I definitely had plenty of wiggle room for my toes to breathe, and no pressure was added during my wear either.

Around the feet and ankles, we are talking wrinkles. We are talking bagginess. I don’t mind it, but I was hoping this would occur towards the end of the day, and not the start!

The Bands: so these bands are great in terms of clasping my belt onto them. They stay up al day with no problems, so I am happy with that.

In regards to damage, these snag up so easily, as you can see in the images below. This occurred in the welt and the reinforcement underneath too, which sucks but not much I can do here.

The welts will stretch out and keep that shape, so just be mindful. I don’t mind that happening, but not everyone knows that this happens – here’s your warning! This means once you get them on, they will shape to your thigh size and stay like that; it won’t spring back to the original shape.

My Thoughts?

I adore this colour, and I absolutely love vintage stockings. But this pair did let me down with the quality; the snags happened WAY too easily for my liking, which is a huge shame as I wanted to style these again in the Summer with retro dresses!
