Okay so my story behind buying this pair; I managed to get a bundle pack from a supplier and this was one of them. I thought it was a black pair with a nude seam to begin with.
As soon as I got them in my hands, I realised that the seam was actually at the front and the colour was grey with a black seam. So I was dead baffled when I got them out the pack to wear to work.
Now this will be an interesting review in my eyes!
Materials: 91% nylon, 6% elastane, 3% polyester
Website: Wolford – Maria Tights
I wore my shirt dress (with a tie waist) with these tights. Keeping it simple as it was a hard pairing in my eyes.
Shirt Dress: off eBay
From The Website: Opaque tights featuring a fine stripe down the front of each leg, creating a lengthening effect.
Soft Velvet de Luxe 66 base material
Comfortable, soft knitted waistband
Also available as knee-highs
A sporty look with a touch of sophistication that looks great with short skirts and dresses.
The Packaging: so after being deceived by the packaging when I first bought them (and my mistake for not checking the colour!) I finally got over it and worked with what I had. The model shows what the tights will look like at the front of the packaging, with the back going into slight detail about the pair. I gotta say the grey and black look quite sporty.
When you get in, you will find the certificate of quality along with the hosiery wrapped around promotional card.
Getting Them On: I gotta say I prefer doing the seams at the back as I’ve mastered that art. Seams at the front aren’t as easy as it looks, especially when you have slightly bent legs (yep I actually do; I hide it well!) so I will tell you now that you won’t see this seam sit dead straight. If you can actually get it to, then please send me proof of this! It took me around 10 attempts on each leg to get that line as perfect as I could; this is what I ended up with!
Anyways I didn’t use hosiery gloves this time, just to let me pinch and pull where I needed to (make sure you don’t have long or sharp nails if you do this). I got them over the feet and anklets with ease and then… the drama rolling them up the leg!
On The Legs: so let me start off with the colour. I gotta say this grey isn’t my thing; I prefer darker shades of grey than light. I found it so hard to pair, hence why I had to go for monochrome colours to make it easy and basic. It’s one that I think would look great for those fashion models, but I really did struggle with this. I think I would have preferred black or another colour!
The quality of these are to die for; these are super damn soft and so nice on the skin. I love that these have some stretch to them (even though I went 1 size up from my usual) so it looked a little more opaque than what it would if I went for X-Small.
The fit of these are spot on; I had enough room in these with some stretch if required. These fit me like a glove and there was no signs of these falling down or causing any havoc on the legs throughout the day.
The feel of them as I mentioned are soft as anything; they truly are a gorgeous luxe pair you can get your hands on! I love the way they felt inside and out on the legs.
The Toes & Ankle: so around the toes, there was no extra material anywhere, the toes had plenty of wiggle room and no pressure was added on the toes or feet during the day. I don’t think these are reinforced, so do take care with long/sharp nails in these.
Also you can see here that the seams start right from the toe seam and work its way up.
Around the ankles, these were a lovely smooth fitted finish.
The Waistband: is so good. It’s super soft like the tights, it grips onto you so well throughout the day and it doesn’t squeeze you either. It’s a proper comfort band, which I enjoyed being in.
These sit around the waist (so belly button height on me) and they stay put all day. I did test the elasticity in these, and they are super good! They don’t lose it as quick as some cheap brands do.
Even though it wasn’t what I expected, I did enjoy being in these. It was something different and unusual to what I normally review, so I am super glad I gave it a go.
In terms of the quality, you will have no issues whatsoever with Wolford. The fit, feel and the longevity is just stunning.
