Well I am feeling a little lucky today, and I suppose my tights have a part to play in that. I decided to do an outfit pairing I wouldn’t normally do, because I really wanted to wear this skirt, but I wanted an element of red to it. So this happened, and I actually quite like it. This is an outfit I wore for dinner and drinks!
Now this pair was gifted for my birthday LAST YEAR, and I’m only getting round to doing them now (it shows how much I have to get through before I do my own products) – I cannot tell you how happy I am doing so. There are a few more pairs from my birthday that still need to be done, so fingers crossed I get round to them soon!

The Review
From The Website: Lucky new year: These wonderfully soft Velvet de Luxe 66 Tights are beautifully adorned with sparkling Swarovski ® crystals. They create a red 8 on each side of the leg, a truly lucky number.
• High degree of elasticity and perfect fit
• Soft, comfortable knitted waistband
Comfort & style all the way.
The Packaging
Getting Them On: as these are super expensive, and one of the most expensive I own I was taking super care getting these on. I wore hosiery gloves, and slowly did my scrunch and roll. This has to be the most amount of time I took prepping to get my tights on.
I took extra care going over my anklets, and slowly rolled them up before setting in place.

On The Legs: okay there is so much I have to talk about and I don’t know where to start!
The design is so simple, but really nice. These are pure Swarovski® crystals, and yes I did pull them a little to test if they come off easily. You will be happy to know that they do not! They don’t budge at all, so I didn’t have to worry about my ankle straps rubbing against them when walking. I have no idea why they picked ‘8’, but I love the fact they look like the infinity ring. And the best part s that you get these on both legs at the sides, rather than just one.
The quality of this pair is just beautiful. They don’t damage easily, however I am sure you could still snag these up if you tried – please don’t do it. They have a good amount of stretch to them, and I can see these lasting a good while if you take care of them.
The fit I love. I am glad I got these in Small and not X-Small as they would be more sheerer than shown below, and they wouldn’t have as much stretch as these do. I always recommend going one size up in Wolford if you want that extra stretch that still hugs the legs well. It gives you a denser, opaque look rather than looking sheer.
The feel is so soft, and when I say they caress the legs – they really do. It literally feels like you’re not wearing any. That smooth, velvety texture is just gorgeous. And you best believe they won’t irritate the legs either.
The Toes & Ankle: I don’t think these have reinforced toes to them, as I did check up close and couldn’t see a cut off line. Luckily these are a thicker denier, so it has come protection to them, but you will still need to be careful with long/sharp nails.
Around the toes, I had plenty of wiggle room and no pressure was added during the day.
Around the feet and ankles, it was a lovely fitted finish with no wrinkles.
The Waistband & Gusset: so this is interesting. This is the one time that I don’t see the Wolford logo in the band – normally it’s there but this time it isn’t present.
I have to say the waistband is great as always; it’s soft to touch and it hugs the waist so nicely. It doesn’t squeeze me during the day, especially when I overeat. The best part is that these don’t roll down on itself or shimmy down during the day either.
The gusset is a palm sized piece, and sits flush against the skin.
My Thoughts?
A pair that is gorgeous to wear, and looks super classy. I love this pair for its quality, and that lovely crystal design just adds to it. I would happily recommend this pair!
I guess it is because in Chinese, the phonetics of the number “8” is the same as “bring fortune to oneself” (in a monetary sense; you often see them on registration plates). Ever since Wolford is taken by a Chinese investment company, they occasionally release products related to Chinese culture.
Just to correct, not the same phonetics but very close.
Positively breathtaking!
