Day 11 of my holdups of the day series brings something wonderfully cosy to the mix – the Trasparenze Jennifer Merino Wool Hold Ups, another pick from my Amazon Wishlist that’s perfect for cooler days.
Hailing from Italy, Trasparenze is a brand with a long‑standing reputation for quality hosiery that blends craftsmanship, comfort and classic design aesthetic in one. Italian legwear makers like Trasparenze are known for taking natural fibres seriously, and these Jennifer hold ups showcase that beautifully by using a high merino wool content that feels soft against the skin while offering warmth and durability you don’t often get from standard opaque pairs. Made with a robust 100 denier construction and a smooth, matte finish, they’re ideal as a transitional piece when tights feel too heavy but you still want warmth and polish under skirts or dresses.

The Review
From The Website: Jennifer 100 Denier Merino Wool Thigh Highs from Trasparenze. Extremely luxurious, warm, merino wool thigh highs which are absolutely perfect for those cooler days. They have a 6.5cm plain top and the toe area is plain finish. Coming in an ironed finish we can’t think of a better way of staying warm, and enjoying the luxurious feel of merino wool on your legs.

The Packaging
Getting Them On: hosiery gloves on because Merino wool is not to be messed with! I did my usual scrunch and roll up, and they were on the legs in a breeze. I did have to shimmy them up to sit them a little higher up so they don’t show too much at the bottom of my skirt.

On The Legs: I wasn’t too sure what to expect with this pair, and I certainly didn’t expect this texture! When I started pulling them up, I saw them go from this lovely dark black to this textured striped look. I’m not too sure how I feel about that to be honest…
The quality of these are ok; I felt that they could have been much better in my opinion. The best thing is that they haven’t snagged once, which I like. But the feel of them isn’t to my liking.
The fit of these I felt are quite snug, and I had just about enough stretch in these to achieve a lovely leg coverage too.
If you are in-between sizes, I would advise going a size up just you have a little extra material to play with.
The feel of these are really quite rough and not that soft as you would think. I was quite disappointed as Merino Wool is lovely and soft when I have tried other brands, but these just didn’t cut it for me.

The Toes & Ankle: these come with reinforced toes, which is an added bonus as these are already quite thick in denier. I had plenty of wiggle room for my toes to breathe, and no pressure was added during my wear either.
Around the feet and ankles, I had a smooth finish with a no wrinkling around the ankles.

The Bands: oh yes we are working with a plain satin band, with double silicone strips. I think this works really well with the texture instead of a lace band, purely because it gives it a solid look.
I had plenty of stretch in these bands too, and they held up so well during my wear today. I had no issues with the tackiness.

My Thoughts?
Not really my cup of tea here, but I am glad I gave them a go. I would definitely size up if I was to get them again, so it would look slightly darker on the legs and it wouldn’t feel too snug.
