Sock Snob Soft Shine Hold Ups

It’s been a while since I’ve reviewed products from Sock Snob. The last review was ok I suppose, however I am hoping that this review will be better than the last. As much as I like shopping for affordable hosiery, I do come across some blah pieces time to time, and it’s worth speaking about so you can make an informed choice rather than having to ‘hope for the best‘.

If you missed my previous review, you can catch it below (opens in a new tab):

My Outfit

I decided to go a little glam today. I paired up my mesh floral top with my gold skirt and added a low heeled court shoes to finish the look. You can always opt for something a little higher but I wanted to keep it chic and bring it from afternoon to evening.

Getting Them On: I took a little extra care to get these on, as I felt the material to be a little grainy. I slowly went up my anklets ad then rolled them up the legs. Now I did sit these higher than they should, and really did stretch them out, instead of sitting them mid-thigh like they wanted to.

On The Legs: okay, so far these are not bad. I have to say I was sceptical at the beginning of my day, but I did grow to like these by the end of the day. It was the material and the feel that did it for me; I felt it was quite grainy and not as smooth as it looks. However, that could also be down to the fact that I did pull it a lot more than I should have.

I sat these higher as I was wearing a shorter skirt, so I didn’t want the bands showing. You could feel the hesitation at first, but when I sat them in place they were fine. You will feel it try to tug down at first, but then it stops and you can carry on with your day.

The quality of these are not bad at all, for the price you pay. The best part is I didn’t end up with any snags or rips (which I was expecting) and I had a lovely pristine look all day long to enjoy. I will say this did surprise me, and I am glad it did.

The fit of these are true to size, however the small for me means sitting it mid thigh for it to be perfect. I would happily opt for medium if it means I don’t have to tug them up the thighs so they can sit a little higher for me. I would recommend checking the sizing guide just so you get the right size for your legs.

The feel of them are semi-smooth. I did like them on the legs, but they take some getting used to. I found it ok to be in during the day when I got over it, and they were fine. In regards to sensitive skin, I think these would be fine to wear. I didn’t have any issues with my legs feeling itchy or irritated.

Oh I forgot to mention I popped on flash for some images to see if they had a shine. I can’t say it’s a blinding shine, but one that is there giving a little lustre. I feel it might pop more in the nude colour. But these are quite subtle when it comes to shine.

The Toes & Ankle: now what I do like is that I have a slightly darker reinforcement, but it doesn’t look cheaply done. I hate it when they come so thick and dark, and there’s extra material around the toes. This looks classy and I certainly prefer this type of reinforcement.

I had plenty of wiggle room for my toes, and there was no pressure that was added during the day either.

Around the feet and ankles, I had no wrinkles appear. To be fair I did tug these way up and stretch them out a lot so I doubt any would form.

The Bands: now I do like these simple bands. They are ones for everyday use, and they give it a clean look.

This comes with one thick silicone strip. This strip isn’t as tacky in texture compared to what you normally get, but it’s a great one if you want to lessen the markings on your legs after a day’s wear. The only downside to these type of bands is that they lose their tackiness after a few wears.

These fit really well and don’t press my skin too much, so it leaves markings and an overhang of skin at the top. I really liked wearing these as the were easy and worked so well with my choice of outfit.

Another great thing about this band is that it doesn’t press though clothing, so it won’t appear compared to floral bands.

My Thoughts?

This pair nicely surprised me, and I am glad they did. I liked the quality of them, and the fact they stayed look pristine all day. The fit is something I am 50/50 about due to me wearing the bands a little higher than I’m supposed to. apart from that, I actually would recommend this pair!
