Smiffys Wet Look Hold-Ups

Hello new brand! I got this pair gifted to review from my wishlist, as I have heard about this brand but never have tried it. I thought let’s do a wet look pair as these always seem to go down a treat and I know a lot of people who buy wet look / PU holdups and stockings.

So I wanted to create a ‘leggings’ look with this pair rather than make it look super provocative – it can easily happen for sure.

Now I will say when these were bought, they were under the Smiffys brand. However, looking it up it should be under Fever Hosiery. Sorry if it sounds confusing but something to point out before we move forward.

My Outfit

I wore my oversized knitted jumper with these holdups and I would have added my Timberlands or Dr Martens as footwear to tone it down. You could always add chunky boots, but make sure you don’t run the risk of it looking ‘cheap’

The Review

The Packaging: the box came a little squished when it arrived to me, so apologies if it looks a little tatty. The front shows the model wearing them with a pair of heels, along with the brand name ‘Fever Hosiery’. I checked and it is sold out on their online store.

The back goes into a little more detail and has an open slot so you can feel the holdups inside.

When you get in, you will find them wrapped in tissue paper to protect the legs from touching each other. This is a pretty neat idea – some that most companies should adopt when working with this type of material.

So I did find that these are not like normal holdups – they come with elastic at the top of each leg, which is supposed to stay up on its own. We shall put that to the test…

Getting Them On:

On The Legs: well to be fair the video says it all really. These are supposed to be a one size pair, however I feel they are made for larger legs. These did not fit me whatsoever, and actually looked ridiculous on. I was not impressed one bit!

Do they hold up on their own?” – to some extent before they start slipping down the legs after walking around in them. This is a pair that you will need either adhesive or a suspender belt to keep them up on the legs.

The feel of them are soft, and really smooth to touch. They don’t irritate the legs inside either, which I am happy about. They are coated with a thick material, that is smooth and shouldn’t cause any issues.

The look – I won’t even go there. If these were more fitted, I might be nicer about them, but as they aren’t – I won’t even comment.

The Toes & Ankle: it just gets worse really. The feet are not fitted at all; it looks like I have mitts on to be honest. They are big, they are bulky, there is too much air in them and they aren’t shaped at all.

They are just this flat seamed pair with no shaping to them, so it will look stupid basically.

The Bands: well I can’t say these are any better. The bands are just a small piece of elastic right at the top; it isn’t even 1/2 inch to the point I wouldn’t be surprised if they ended up snapping.

I will say you will need a belt to hold these up; no leg small or big will be able to keep these up in place for long.

My Thoughts?

I’m appalled – I expected something like what was shown on the model, and got this cheap tacky pair that doesn’t fit in the slightest. They are not even worth it.
