Pretty Polly Heat Sense Tights

Well we are visiting some hosiery I bought a while ago (and I mean maybe around Xmas time – that long ago!) I got these thinking that I would be wearing them when it’s freezing to test out the ‘heat sense’ part of them, but obviously most of the cold weather is starting to go… So that was a flop!

Now just to let you know that I got these off UKTights a while back, but as they no longer stock them I had to find an alternative site that would for you all!

The Review

From The Website: Keep your legs wrapped up warm and toasty this season with Heatsense! Pretty Polly Heatsense tights are perfect for keeping the cold away.

The Packaging: so these were open packed, which means you just gotta rip open (gently by the way) and get them straight on!

The front shows the brand and the model of the tights, with the back going into slightly more detail:

“A fibre blend that keeps you warm by trapping your body heat.

Getting Them On: so out of the packaging, these are flat folded, with no card in so you can get them straight on. I did notice on the band, there was some extra hanging off! You can just cut this off before you get them on.

I used the scrunch and roll on the legs, and oh my God these are so soft when you roll them up!

On The Legs: okay so when they’re on and stretched out, you can see what they’re truly like. They’re a matte finish and look quite woollen to be honest. I did find firing flash on them gives them a real nice shine on the legs. This is where my jaw dropped to the floor; I never expected that!

They hug the legs really well and the more it’s stretched, the more see-through they become.

The denier is pretty high yet they still show some leg, so I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing to be honest.

Now the ‘heat sense’ bit; I can say that these did not work for me. I thought being a thicker denier, it would keep me warm and snug during the day. But this wasn’t the case to be honest. I’m not saying it was mega warm outside anyways, but it was nippy enough to put these to the test and I didn’t think that they did the job well. I have tried deniers slightly lower than these that can make me warm as anything and higher that do fully block out the legs and keep them lovely and toasty. But I felt that these were nothing like that and just another pair of thicker denier hosiery.

Now let me also mention that these are so easy to snag too; like I managed to catch one and it ended up having a small hole in them which I was not impressed with! This happened in the morning on the way to work, so I was stuck with this damn snag all day! Luckily that was the only one I got, but I was not a happy panda!

The Toes & Ankles: so moving down the legs to the toes and ankles; these I feel are slightly reinforced on the toes due to the thicker denier. That was to begin with until I came home to take my pics and realised there was a slight hole on the end of my foot! Like how!? I don’t even have long nails at the moment!

Another little note is that your feet so perspire in these a lot, so be mindful when you’ve had a long day!

Nevertheless, these do have plenty of wiggle room in them and around the ankles, they don’t drop or crinkle at all, so it’s all good here!

The Waistband & Gusset: okay so extra wiggly bit aside, these are decent. The only bit I find that is! These do sit quite high (just over belly button level) but they’re so snug. They don’t roll down during the day which is fab, and the band doesn’t dig into you either.

The gusset – there isn’t one in these. They are just pure seams, so I would advise to wear underwear or if you’re brave, then just roll commando!

My Thoughts?

To be honest, I wouldn’t recommend these if I am being frank. I thought the quality could have been better, and the fact that there were holes and snags just put me right off them.

I like thicker deniers don’t get me wrong, but I don’t like when they’re supposed to have a purpose and don’t fulfil it. Like what’s the point in paying extra when it doesn’t even do anything!

Sorry Pretty Polly, but just a nope from me!

  1. Love these from the description and looks great on your legs. Don’t have these yet but do have a pair of Pretty Polly luster tights in ink blue should of bought the red current color but they are discontinued to bad they fit just like these you reviewed but with a glossy look. Have seen them on ebay yet but Pretty Polly discontinued them. Pretty Polly is a great brand and sizing is generous this I know have bought one size and fits great.
