Pandora’s Box Designer Range Retro Hosiery

So new little independent brand there that I fancied trying out. I came across them on eBay (I can’t remember how I found them to begin with) but I thought I would give them a go and see what they’re like.

There isn’t much to say about them to be honest, and I don’t know if that is a good or bad thing but I’m gonna roll with it anyways.

Now I used to do this when I first started out in hosiery; searching around for different brands to try out . some came out good, some were ok and some were so crap there was no point in actually opening the link! So I am hoping that I have made the right choice and really hoping that they are a decent pair I can recommend to you all…

My Outfit

So I’m experimenting with fashion now; I decided to not do the norm (like I do) and went for a printed t-shirt with my lace skirt. I didn’t add shoes into the mix this time (but it would have been stone coloured boots if I did).

I kept it proper casual to be honest and wanted to blend the hosiery in instead of making it the statement piece.

The Review

From The Website: I have sourced my new range of designer stockings and tights mainly from Italy and they are simply GORGEOUS! The stockings have a comfortable wide thigh band and work well with either plastic or metal suspender clips, whilst the thigh-high hold-ups all feature deep lace thigh bands with silicone stretch strips to hold them in place.

These are SO fashionable and on-trend now.

The Packaging: okay so it came in a clear plastic little baggy thing with a small little note on the front.

As soon as you get into them, you fid them wrapped around card (which is always nice) and then when you fold them out, you finally get to see what you’re working with.

The bottom middle and right pictures show each leg; one has bent seams and a bent sole and the other seems straight but then veers off bent near the top.

Now inspecting, I find that these have already been snagged before I actually managed to get them on. I tried to take a decent picture holding these in the air (and failed miserably)

Getting Them On: so I started off with hosiery gloves and then had to remove them as they were just getting all tangled in them (shows that these are pretty rough and just cling onto everything rather than rub smoothly past)

Once they are on, you can see they have a slight bend to them. I tried to correct this multiple times thinking it was my legs, but in actual fact, it’s the hosiery itself. No matter how much you try and twist, it has a mind of its own.

So not a great start… But let me carry on…

On The Legs: oh flipping heck! Like it couldn’t get any worse … SNAG CITY! But I will do in depth further down.

Okay… So… These aren’t the smoothest of hosiery I have put on. They are a proper matte finish and are as rough as anything to be honest. The only nice thing is the denier as I think it looks really nice when the light is upon it.

It hugs the legs pretty well to be honest, so that’s a positive point I found with them – and probably the only positive point I can state. The seams are ok (if they damn well stayed straight) as they pop out (so they were added after).

Such Issues: I cannot get over how many snags are on my legs right now. I am so miffed (that’s an understatement by the way – I’m trying not to swear my head off) that somehow I have managed to cause this many. I made sure that my anklet was in place and I worked over it just in case it did snag them.

And it gets better on this leg as I managed to create a little hole in my snag, so there goes this pair! I cannot believe how cheap and crap they are, and I paid like £9 for them. It may not be much, but I can get a pair of bladdy Fiore for £3 and they would turn out much better than these things! RIP OFF – literally!!!!!PhotoGrid_1511891395561.jpg

The Toes & Soles: so the toes have the covered patch over them which them works into the bottom of the soles and then becomes the seam. Now the toes cover is pretty cute and has that lovely vintage effect, but then when it works into the soles, they become slightly bent-ish and a mess to be honest. I counted 9 times I tried to sort this out for my images, and each time it just ended up doing its own thing once I started walking around.

I doubt these are properly reinforced and there is slightly wiggle room but not that much, so you may have to consider more open toes than closed to make sure that your toes don’t hurt after a long days’ wear.

The Band: okay so the band isn’t bad to be honest. It’s a plain one which is pretty cheap-ish quality (you can tell when you rub your fingers on it) but does. My clasps were ok on these and held them up well so I don’t have an issue there. I don’t really have much else to say as I’m so angry with these. And even then, there’s a snag right near the damn band on the left leg!

My Thoughts?

Just don’t even bother, seriously. I have never been so disappointed in a pair of stockings before, and these are just the most crappiest pair I have ever come across.

  • They were snagged before I even got them on
  • They snagged whilst I was getting them on
  • The quality is just rubbish and is rough as anything on the legs

The worst thing is they say “…sourced my new range of designer stockings and tights mainly from Italy and they are simply GORGEOUS” – the complete opposite! I don’t even Italy would ever produce such sh*te hosiery. More like a cheap deal with a China hosiery company.

Anyways… Enough slagging off .. Off to write a better review.
