Now these were one of my eBay finds, that I got for dirt cheap. Unfortunately the seller was private and only had one available, so if you do manage to find them elsewhere; grab it while you can.
Now these intrigued me as they have this rhinestone anklet design to them, which I thought looked super cute. I know I always wear anklets with mine (and have done for many years now), so this will be a cute little addition to my set.
I will also state here that these are stockings and not holdups, as there are no silicone bands to them. I will explain all this further on in the blog.
Size: One Size
Denier: Around 15-20
I felt super smart in my outfit today (and yes this is a new skirt too – I have a thing for tweed!) pairing up my dark blue vest top with my tweed skirt. To keep it a little casual (yet formal) I added my tan court shoes to finish the look.
Tights: Leg Avenue
The Packaging: I have to say this is pretty old-school packaging, and I quite like it. It shows the model wearing the hosiery on the front (in the colour black) and the back goes into a little more detail about the pair.
When you get in, you will find them wrapped around plain card, and flat folded so there is no foot or leg shaping to them. I will say these are stockings and not holdups as there are no silicone bands in these.
Getting Them On: I did my scrunch and roll as usual, however I had to take care on the right leg as I had small diamantes to work with on the ankles. They don’t catch onto the stockings easily (thank goodness) but I still like to take extra care, especially it’s the first time I am getting them on.
These are also fine going over my anklets 🙂
On The Legs: you’ll be able to see close up that these stockings looks quite grainy rather than smooth on the legs. This is due to:
- Stretching them out on the legs
- The way they are made so they have a matte finish (and cheaply done in my eyes)
I wasn’t a fan of them to be honest; they did irritate my legs a little as they were quite rough. If you’re wearing a base pair, then it’s fine but as I wore them on their own, they weren’t as comfortable against the skin as I would have liked them to be.
The fit of these were great on the legs; they had plenty of stretch to them so I could sit them wherever I liked without having to worry that I am over-stretching them. They also hugged the legs so there was no gapping found.
The quality of these are ok; they could have been better in terms of how they felt more than anything. I do feel these could snag very easily as the material didn’t feel that great when you rub them against your fingers.
The colour of these were not bad; they did match my skin tone, but they shaded just a tad lighter so it made my legs look quite pale. It wasn’t that noticeable until you look close up, but it was worth mentioning that these don’t add much colour to the legs.
I do like that anklet design on the right leg (you can also wear it on the left if you prefer) but I did find it sits quite high up on the leg; I expected it to sit where my other anklets are, but it didn’t. I didn’t mind it to be hones, but I would prefer it to be a little lower to make it look realistic.
The Toes & Ankle: unfortunately these do not have reinforced toes, so you will need to take care with long/sharp nails. I had plenty of wiggle room in these and no pressure was added on the toes either.
Around the feet and ankles, they have a fitted finish due to the amount of elastic in the stockings. They didn’t feel too rough around this area compared to the legs.
The Bands: as you can see, these are no way holdups. They need a suspender belt to keep these up on the thighs. There are no silicone bands inside, which is a shame as I am sure they would have made great holdups with that lovely lace detailing. However, I needed the belt, and I had to be so cautious not to clasp in areas where it’s purely net.
The bands sit wherever you like them to; I sat mine high up the thighs as I prefer them there, but you have the option to sit them low or high.
Overall not a bad pair I have to say; they are simple, they have a cute anklet design and they work. I wasn’t overall impressed with the quality of them as I felt they could have been so much better, but never mind. I would still recommend them!
