Jaeger 20 Denier Tights

Finally back into work mode, and it’s still damn cold! I cannot tell you how much I hate cold weather (even though I trekked to Berlin when it was minus temperatures – won’t be doing that again!), but I suppose it’s the perfect excuse to layer up, and that also means hosiery and socks too!

So I got myself a brand that I have heard of before but never actually bought; I thought I would give it a go!

About Jaeger

Pioneering style since 1884

Yes, we’re British. Yes, we believe in quality. Yes, we have signature pieces we are proud of. But, a camel coat and perfectly-cut suit do not define us.

With over 130 years of expertise, we understand the importance of innovation and creativity – from being the first brand to use wool as a summer fabric to our contemporary collaborations and capsule collections. Versatility, ease and style are also important to us, as we know it is to you. We nod to trends, but are not beholden to them. We reflect, but are not stuck in the past (no matter how illustrious).

The result? Effortlessly stylish pieces for work and play without the designer price tags.

My Outfit

I just realised that I did stripes not too long ago and back in it again today….

So this time I did my off-the-shoulder top with my black bodycon ribbed skirt and then a ivory waterfall blazer on top. I added over knee socks once again and then the same damn shoes! If it’s not the Simmi boots, then it’s these shoes that I always go to!

The Review

The Packaging: very dark making the model stand out at the front which I do like. It gives it that luxury look in my eyes, which is always nice so you instantly think you’re getting an amazing pair of tights inside.

The back is the most basic I have ever come across; sizing guide that fits all at the top with a medium window and then a small label. So basically you got to buy to find out what they are like!

Getting Inside: so inside these were neatly flat folded around cardboard, so once again you need to scrunch and roll to get them on neatly (and snag-free!)

On The Legs: these fit really well and they hug so you won’t find them loose anywhere. They are super soft but slightly rough (only ever slightly though) due to the matte finish, but nothing that is too concerning. I did find to begin with you get those weird streaky lines on the lower leg, but after a little adjustment it goes away.

When I say little adjustment I mean either rolling them back down and starting again or brush them a few times with your hands to make it disappear.

One thing I really do like about a matte finish is that socks hold up well with them. When it’s a shiny finish, it always ends up slipping down the legs giving that crinkly effect under the knee (I hate that but if you like it, then well.. ) so these are perfect if you are layering up!

The Toes & Ankles: so this part is a little interesting and something that has never happened to be before. After a day’s wear (and with socks on top) I found my silver anklet to catch the tights just under the ankle bone. I tried to get a decent picture but it wasn’t happening so I got the aftermath instead. It actually made a little hole in them which I had to hairspray to stop it from turning into a run. I was amazed as that has never happened before with any of my hosiery!

The toes are covered with a darker denier strip across them, which I quite like actually, to show that they are reinforced. It then becomes the 20 denier from the strip to the brief part. Can’t say I experienced any issues here around the feet (which I am glad about so I can wear them with sandals next time!)

There is plenty of wiggle room in these, no pressure put on them throughout the day (especially being in socks too) and no holes from having long toenails either.

The Waistband: the waistband is a standard one; it sits around the belly button area, and is quite a slimmish one too. It stayed up well all day and I had no problems whatsoever with it. There is plenty of elasticity in them so perfect for those days you feel bloated and don’t want to be squished by your hosiery to make it worse!

The Denier & Coverage: I really do love 20d’s. They give the right amount to wear day or night, and they are perfect for anything. When you go lower, it shows a lot more leg and skin, and if you go higher, you start covering more and more, so I always find 15-20 to be the ones that every person should have at least a few pairs of.

Like the image below, it shows it being slightly darker, whereas when the flash gets it, it turns brighter. So as you can imagine, in the summer these would give you a lovely coverage and in winter it shades a tad darker due to the lack of lighting.

My Thoughts?

Minus the streaky-ness to begin with, I really like these tights. Matte are amazing in my eyes and to try out a new brand (to me) is always an experience.

I find these ones to be great for what you pay; I wouldn’t have been impressed if I got them full price to be honest.

I don’t really have much to say to be fair; no snagging which is great, the quality is decent lasting you all day and longer if you take care of your hosiery and a staple needed for your wardrobe.
