Honey Birdette Gabrielle Luxury Thigh High Stay-Ups

Oh hello Honey Birdette… It has been some time since I last reviewed a pair. I am looking forward to these ones, as I haven’t done orange hosiery for a long time, and these look incredible!

I have tried to find these online, however they are no longer available on their website. I am sure you will be able to find them though private sellers.

My Outfit

Yep I am going super bright with my clothing today, as I wanted to work with the orange colour rather than make it a super statement piece. I paired up my orange bodysuit with my tweed multi-coloured skirt and added tan heels to tone it down a little.

The Review

The Packaging

Getting Them On: I did my scrunch and roll, and slowly rolled them up my feet, making sure I keep the seams as straight as I can. I made sure that they went over my anklets softly before I carried on rolling up. These I did not have to stretch much to get them to sit higher up the thighs.

On The Legs: so let me start off with the colour. I feel this colour is a little too light for my legs. It makes them look a little ashy, and with the neon orange it really works against my skin colour. This I believe caters for those who are a little lighter skinned which is totally fine but it wasn’t one that I really liked.

The backseam is lovely. I love that vibrant orange colour, which works so well with my outfit. I would have liked it on a slightly darker nude base, but never mind. I haven’t come across this colour before, and I really like it – especially for Summer!

The quality of this pair is a let down for me unfortunately. I had a little too many issues as soon as I got them on, and that is a no no from me. I felt they were cheap, even though it’s a luxe name. These snag really easily as I managed to get some when I was taking them off. I don’t see this pair lasting long to be frank.

The fit of these were great; they fit me really well and there was plenty of stretch in them so I could sit them where I liked on the legs. I didn’t have any issued with this.

The feel of them were soft, and pretty smooth on the legs. I didn’t have any irritation whilst I was in them, which is always a bonus. They did glide against the skin when I rolled them down during the day.

The Toes & Ankle: okay so this section is not too bad. I did like the reinforced toe with the sole panel leading to the pyramid design. It was a simple, subtle element that I liked. The seam added to this really well.

However what I didn’t appreciate is that the seam started right at the front, to the point it is sitting right on top of my toenails. I didn’t expect this, and it limits the footwear I can wear with these. I had closed toe heels on today however sandals I believe would be out the equation.

I did have plenty of wiggle room for my toes to breathe, and no pressure was added during the day.

Around the feet and ankles, it was a smooth finish with no wrinkles.

The Bands: now this is the part that I thought I would like the most, but actually it’s the part that was the worst!

Firstly I had a big hole in the welt to deal with all day. I don’t have a clue how I missed this when I was doing my packaging video, but I did. I only noticed it when I rolled them on and set them in place. At first I thought I had ripped them, but when you look up close, I realised I didn’t and this was a quality issue. It stayed the same size the whole time, and I also tugged at it to see if it did get any bigger – it didn’t. I am super disappointed, especially as Honey Birdette’s hosiery isn’t the cheapest.

Secondly, these really squeezed my thighs today. Don’t get me wrong there is plenty of stretch in them, so I don’t understand why they really hugged me and left my with a skin bumped on top. Luckily my skirt was not a bodycon one, as that would be the main attraction!

Apart from all that, I do like how these have one thick silicone band to them. I will say it isn’t the tackiest one compared to other holdups I have reviewed, but it did the job for today.

“Could these last a few more wears?”

To be honest, I don’t see it lasting – if you can use holdups adhesive then maybe but not on its own.

The block colour is nice though and it has a reinforced band under the welt…

My Thoughts?

I didn’t think these words would come out of my mouth for this brand, but I am not a fan at all. I had too many issues than I would have liked.
