Girardi Chantal Stockings

Still keeping it stylish for winter – as much as I love winter hosiery, I still like to wear stockings now and again to break up the cosier looks. I like layering up, but I do miss the simpler looks. So today, that’s what I’m going for.

My Outfit

I haven’t worn this skirt for a while, so I wanted to get it out to style up for colder months. I tucked in my jumper and paired up with simple ankle strap shoes. You can always switch to boots instead to make it more winter appropriate.

The Review

From The Website: Girardi was a very popular brand here until distributor delays brought an end to things back in 2010. First time round, though, the Chantal signature logo stockings were by far the biggest seller – even though they faced direct competition from the conceptually similar Trasparenze Sara. A lot has changed since 2010… the Saras have now lost their logo tops, the Chantals now come in a much bigger choice of colours and – best of all – they’re around 20% cheaper! We’ve stocked up but they’ll fly… Double covered Lycra for comfort, fit and durability.

The Packaging

Getting Them On: as these are super delicate, I took my time getting them on the legs. I did my scrunch and roll up the legs, taking care going over my anklets. I did use my hosiery gloves here to get them on with care, so I don’t snag them up before my day starts.

On The Legs: I am loving this denier against this outfit! I know it isn’t really the season, but when it works so well – you can’ complain.

The quality of this pair was not bad, however I did feel it lacked compared to pairs I have reviewed before, These snagged VERY easily. Luckily my skirt was long enough to hide them, but I was annoyed that they caught so easy. Apart from that mishap, these were great.

So I was a little disappointed in this pair. There was supposed to be the Girardi logo on the welt, and there wasn’t. At first I thought I put them on the wrong way, but I followed the shaping of the stockings correctly, so technically they should be showing on the front. Anyways, the logo wasn’t there – not impressed. I did go back to look at the description on the website; it did state that another style of stockings removed it but never mentioned this style I am reviewing today.

The fit of this pair was great for my leg length and width. I had plenty of stretch for it to stretch nicely and not have any gapping. I sat these high up the thighs, and it was fine me doing so. I thought I would be going against it a little at one point, but it worked out nicely. If you are unsure of your size, I would recommend going one size up just to be on the safe side.

The feel of these are lovely. They are soft, they are silky and they were great against my skin. I didn’t have any issues with irritation, and to be honest I didn’t expect it from this pair. They are a sensual pair to be in!

These do have a slight shine to them, which I tried to capture. It isn’t a great amount, but you can notice it is there when light hits it.

The Toes & Ankle: these come with reinforced toes to them, and I am super happy they do. I love the contrast against the legs, and thy match up with the welt so nicely. Normally stockings come with reinforced toes, and I always appreciate when they do. There are some brands that don’t, so you can wear them with open toe shoes. Even though I like that from time to time, nothing beats a reinforced toe!

I had plenty of wiggle room for my toes not to feel cramped, and there was no pressure added during the day either.

Around the feet and ankles, it was a smooth finish with no wrinkles.

The Bands: even though there is no signature logo on there, it still is a lovely welt. I have a good wet for the clasps to hook onto before it goes into the reinforcement with a lovely design underneath.

The welts have plenty of stretch to them, however it doesn’t return back to shape once stretched. But that’s not an issue as they’ll nicely slip back on and sit in place.

My Thoughts?

Not a bad pair considering – but it did let me down a little. I do love the denier, the fit and how lovely they look. But the quality isn’t as great as it used to be.
