Gio Classic Fully Fashioned Stockings

Seeing as the Gerbe Sensitive 30 Semi Opaque Stockings didn’t go quite to plan, let’s give the Gio Classic a go. I am so looking forward to these as I do love 100% nylon stockings on the legs – they just look so classy and sophisticated!

I have done one review of this brand before, and absolutely loved it. If you haven’t read the review already, then hit the link below (it opens in a new tab):

The Review

From The Website: Authentic Gio fully fashioned Cuban heel stockings.

Luxurious and silky, these are 100% Nylon fully-fashioned stockings and are designed to fit the leg perfectly. They are 15 denier, high-gloss and sheer, yet silky smooth to the touch. Reinforced (Cuban) heel and toe (RHT), plus back seam. Hand made in England using traditional methods. A Cuban heel is squared off above the ankle, as opposed to ‘point heels’ which are tapered. Also available with Point heel.

Complimentary hand wrapped in tissue and ribbons
Genuine 100% nylon fully fashioned stockings (FFS)
Perfect vintage style stockings
RHT – Reinforced Heel and Toe
Denier: 15 – sheer

The Packaging: so once again the outer packaging is pretty much as the same review I did on the Gerbe sold by Mayfair Stockings.

When you get into that lovely tissue wrap, you see the model wearing the stockings on the front with the back going into more detail about sizing, hosiery care and a little about the Gio brand.

So once you start unfolding this, you will find these neatly wrapped around card to hold their shape. These will be folded horizontally so you get the foot and leg shaping to it.

Now the only downside is that these already came snagged near to the band, which I wasn’t too impressed with. But it’s ok – I will let this one fly and see how they go during the day.

Getting Them On: even though the image below shows me NOT wearing gloves, just be assured that I did have them on and took them off so I could do the clasps quickly this morning! They were fine going over anklets as long as they aren’t sharp and you take extra care getting your stockings over them 🙂

On The Legs: well … what an experience it has been wearing these today.

It certainly wasn’t what I was expecting as the last time I wore them I loved it!

So let’s start with the denier; being 15 these are a gorgeous sheer colour on the legs, making it look barely there depending on the lighting. I absolutely loved how they looked on the legs, and with the backseam being really bold, it just looked so good.

Now the quality really let me down;

  • There were plenty of snags that happened throughout the day.
  • Those weird markings made a lovely appearance on the inner part; at first I thought it was because I pulled them up too high, but then I realised that these were super long for me anyways so that defo wasn’t it.
  • The backseam had some weird patch thing on the side of the backseam which really looked off-putting and it was totally visible to everyone as I had many people comment on them during the day.

I really don’t understand how they could be this bad, but I was really not impressed with them at all. Gio are one of the vintage brands that are well-known and always look so stunning on models, but having my 2nd pair like this… I am disappointed.

Anyways the fit of these were near enough true to size if you are like 5ft 8″ tall; I found these a little too long for me, to the point they could actually go over my tushy rather than sit nicely underneath. I had to make sure I adjusted the clasps so they would hold them up so they don’t have any extra baggy wrinkles on the legs and make it look more natural.

The feel of them however was lovely and soft; a proper silky feel which I loved.

The Toes & Ankle: so around the toes. these have a lovely reinforcement strip going across them, but I would be mindful of long or sharp nails seeing as the quality of these aren’t that great. The toe strip on the bottom leads to a lovely sole strip and working into a backseam, so wearing these with open sandals would be a right treat for others!

As you can see, I did manage to snag this section as well – *eye rolling face*

Around the ankles, these sit nice and flush with the odd wrinkle here and there during the day.

The Band: so just when you think it couldn’t get any worse, I had a lovely baggy band where I actually had a massive gap between thigh and band. I am seriously questioning these; is it just this one-off pair or are they all like that?!

Other than that, the band is quite nice and the clasps really do grip it well too. It’s a lovely sheer smooth band, and if it sat where it should and not all the way up around my tushy, it would look beautiful on the legs.

My Thoughts?

Erm … No. Sorry. There is nothing really that I can say.
