Charnos Rope Bow Stockings

Another brand I cannot believe I am getting to try out. I do love Charnos; their brand is one that I can always rely on for cheap and cheerful quality hosiery. So imagine when I saw a pair of old school Charnos in my collection to try out!

Charnos has long been celebrated for its elegant and feminine hosiery designs, and the Rope Bow Stockings are a perfect example of that timeless charm. The delicate rope bow motif adds a subtle decorative touch that feels both vintage and beautifully refined, reminiscent of the mid-century era when small details made a big impact. Charnos stockings were known for their smooth finish and flattering fit, offering women a graceful way to elevate their everyday looks. Wearing a vintage pair today brings that same sense of quiet sophistication and decorative elegance to any outfit.

The Review

The Packaging

Getting Them On: my gloves on (this picture was taken when I was ready to take them off) and we are rolling. I took my time to do my scrunch and roll, before sliding them up the thighs and setting them in place. These were a breeze to get on this morning.

I used a 8 clasp suspender belt with these today.

On The Legs: so this colour is not my thing; nearly black. I find that it looks really fuddy duddy, like something older people wear and honestly I am so glad my skirt covers a lot of it. I was not pleased, and I really do wish these just came in black instead.

I do like the bow detailing to them; where it has a small sewn on button with a rope bow printed on at the back of my legs.

The quality of these are really bad; they snag SO easily, even with a long skirt on!

The fit was pretty much spot on. I wasn’t too sure how they would be, but they sat well on the legs and around the feet. These don’t have much elasticity in them, so when they stretch out, they stay that way.

The feel of them are very rough, and it has friction against my skirt too – which I didn’t think would happen. I did find these irritated me during the day, and I had to take them off a few times to cream my legs to lessen the irritation.

The Toes & Ankle: there is faint reinforcement around the toes. I had plenty of wiggle room for my toes to breathe, and no pressure was added during my wear either.

Around the feet and ankles, I had a smooth finish, with no wrinkling.

The Bands: these come with cotton-like welts to them, which sit well on the thighs. They opened up and didn’t squeeze my thighs. These were easily to clasp onto, and they held in place for the whole day with no issues.

My Thoughts?

Sadly, not my favourite pair. I felt these could have had so much more potential if they were made a little better.
