Carra Hosiery in Almost Opaque

New brand alert! New brand alert! I am so excited about these! My first pair of Carra Hosiery… and let me tell you what they’re all about!

About Carra Hosiery

“Christi Hairston, CEO & Designer, turned her love for hosiery into a company of her own in memory of her late sister Carra Lavonne. Carra was a fashionista before her time and our products serve not only as a legacy to her impeccable style but a brand that is changing the perception of hosiery. CARRA Hosiery is one of the first hosiery brands with a built-in panty in all of its legwear. This upscale brand offers comfort, style, and sophistication with its Free The Panty approach.

CARRA Hosiery uses the finest fabrics and an antimicrobial finish that inhibits the growth of bacteria on all of its products. This technology ensures  a hygienic life style when wearing our legwear that is both environmentally friendly and safe.

We continually strive to create legwear that is modern, attractive, and affordable.”

My Outfit

I went on a casual one with these as I hit up town with my mate for lunch; black ribbed bodysuit with my statement skirt and I added stone boots.

I left my hair down, added hold hoops and my black bowler hat just to finish it off.

I didn’t add these in as I wanted the first review to be more about the hosiery rather than the outfit!

The Arrival: of them were so cool. They came in a padded envelope, and once you got them out, I saw this groovy pineapple packaging which I loved! It was such a cute twist which I have never seen before.

The Hosiery Packaging: so the box itself is a slim-line one. It has a generic look at the front which is quite nice and cutesy, and the back gives you more detail about the hosiery along with sizing etc.

“1 pair hosiery with an ultra-sexy, built-in French lace panty.”

“The Chelsea Collection. No undies required! Our gorgeous line of hosiery is deigned with sexy, built-in panties featuring moisture-wicking fabric. You’ll look fabulous and feel it too… all day long.”

Getting Inside The Box: the hosiery are wrapped around cardboard (thank heavens!) and the first thing I saw is how slim the legs are and the bumpy panty part. These aren’t shaped to the legs or anything, so you can get them on either way. I couldn’t find a tag inside to tell you the front from the back, so you’re good to go really!

Getting Them On: hosiery gloves are needed because I managed to snag my tights when I was getting them on. I have to admit I was a little rough with them, but the joyous thing is that these are supposed to be ladder-resistant so we will put that to the test later!

On The Legs: as these are almost opaque and have a matt finish, these aren’t bad at all. These are in-between sheer and opaque, but gives a nice coverage on the legs, which actually works for those of you who are after this sort of look for winter.

I did manage to snag it a few more times due to my shopping bags, but still no sign of any ladders or runs, so all good!

I do have to say that you don’t get a smooth coverage in terms of the denier; it can be patchy in parts (I found my feet to be darker than the rest of my legs) so you may need to pull them on and off a few times to get it as even as you can.

The Panty: now I’m not gonna lie but I wore underwear this time as I didn’t feel comfortable being out and about not wearing any, but I have to say I love it! It gives you full coverage at the front, and most of the back too (depending on that booty size!)

It has a cotton gusset and you can tell that these wouldn’t itch or irritate your skin when you wear them without any undies on, so it’s all good here!

I love the design of them (sorry that these aren’t on me when talking about this), which is lovely, feminine and look uber sensual.

The Toes: these are gorgeous! They’re sheer(ish) but no rips, no holes or anything and my nails are sharp at the moment, so I thought it would be good to test them out rather than smooth them down before I get them on. They have plenty of wiggle room  too!

The Sizing: now I know I mentioned that these are a medium which I thought were going to be quite big on me, but actually these fit perfect on me. I was worried about the crinkling at the ankles, but I had none of it and sat well on me all day. No falling gusset, no baggy-ness, no fuss!

The Quality & Denier: is decent actually, even if it doesn’t look it. We aren’t talking Wolford standard here, but what you get is decent enough! I have to admit I wasn’t too keen on the patchy bits but no great shakes if you’re wearing long boots during winter.

In terms of the ladder-resistant, I can say that these have served me well all day. The snags were there (yes ugh!) but they didn’t get any bigger, and they were only tiny ones compared to normal snags you may get in other hosiery. I managed to pinch and pull at these most of the day to trial them out, and they are really amazing! I even took my nails to them and poked and scratched away, and still nothing. So these are good if you need durability during the day!

The Band: is a good sturdy one. Lots of elasticity in them, and they sit around the waist (around the belly button area). I have had no problems with them at all during the day, but I will need to trial it without underwear on and see what it’s like. There are no logos or tags; just a plain simple band that does a good job!

My Thoughts?

Okay so just summing it all up, I think these are great. Even though they did snag a little and have that patchiness to them, I still really like them. I love the matt finish which actually looked great on the legs and styled with long boots could work a lot better. I know I would normally slate, but the plus point is that these are ladder-resistant which is swaying my opinion to love them!

The quality is pretty awesome and I love the panty part to it as well (which I will be going commando with my next pair).

Everything else about them is great and I actually can’t wait to do my next pair now!
