My hands got a hold of a basque after ages of not being in one! I got this beauty gifted a while back, and it has taken me some time to finally get it on and rocking with an outfit (of course)!!
That’s one thing I love about lingerie reviews is that I always get to do them with such statement outfits, so it turns a piece into artwork!
Materials: 52% nylon, 31% elastane, 1% polyester
Website: Amazon – BLUEBELLA Carmen Basque
I wore my birdie shirt open and tied at the front paired with a high waisted sequin skirt to create a sassy look. I opted for plain court shoes as there was enough going on around the top half of me!
From The Website: Carmen, like many of the new Bluebella designs, reinvent lingerie and do so in a stunning and sexy way. Here they have created a basque almost entirely out of cut outs and straps. The result is a design that is as daring and as dangerously sexy as you can hope to find. It has a little floral lace just to add decoration and some modesty to what might be one of the most daring designs we have ever seen. The basque has four suspender straps and underwired cups. Matching thongs, bras and other items are available.

The Packaging: so this came folded in half in plastic packaging. Nothing much to it to be honest; I had to get into it to see what it was.
Instead of me rambling, I decided to take a series of images so you can see close up what I will be getting into shortly 🙂
The Lace & Panelling: I have to say it is simply gorgeous! The only let down I had was that the lace didn’t sit flush as the boning/piping on the body was a little bent (probably due to when the item was being posted and how it was handled) and I couldn’t bend it back into shape, so I was left with floral lace which was popping out instead of sitting straight.
Otherwise I love how it looks on the body! The panel work is at the front and on the back, it’s a little more subtle.
The Suspender Straps: okay so the suspender straps are plastic ones, but they still grip really well. You may need to fiddle slightly as with ribbon kept getting in my way, but if you’re an expert with the rubber ones, then you just crack on love!
I prefer metal, but still playing with rubber so I get used to it and get them done up quicker than faffing around each time.
I didn’t show these as I didn’t end up wearing stockings with my outfit, so these were left dangling on my legs under my skirt. The straps aren’t removable so if dangling down isn’t an option for you, you could always tuck them in or just wear stockings with them 🙂
The Front & Back: so let’s show you how this actually looks on once the shirt comes off! The front is pretty detailed with lace and panels; bold but feminine which I love. The back as I mentioned is just simple panels. I do love the way this look on, and you can use this item on its own or pair with trousers or a skirt and wear as a fashion piece instead like I did 🙂
Oh before I forget, the straps are adjustable, so you can sit this higher or lower – however you find it comfortable.
The Fit & Feel: the fit is beautiful and really does work with my body. The only downside is the bent panels near the bottom which then make the lace wonky, otherwise I had no issues. It fits lovely around the chest, and it’s amazing how you can adjust it from the back – either making it tighter or looser depending on how you wear it. You have 3 hook and eyes to choose from!
The Look: as you can see, I went for a feminine yet sensual look with my outfit, and it worked brilliantly. I had so many compliments and everyone loved the outfit. It is a little daring, but then again why not?!
This is just a gorgeous piece! You can opt for hiding it under clothing, making it a showpiece with an outfit, or keep it for the bedroom only. Either way, it’s a gorgeous piece to have in the wardrobe!
