Macy’s Opaque Pantyhose

Another new brand we welcome to the blog today, and I wish I had more information about these to give to you so know the background story. This pair was gifted a while back, and I have been meaning to try out some new colours too!

So these state that they are opaque, however I feel they are more semi-opaque – I just wanted to let you know before I get questioned as to ‘Why are they not a thick opaque pair?

The Review

The Packaging: very vintage packaging we have here and I do love it. The front has cartoon images of women along with the brand name and sizing details. The back doesn’t go into much more information sadly.

When you get in, you will find these folded around plain card, with leg and foot shaping to it.

Getting Them On: as soon as I took them out, I was praying they have enough stretch in them to fit me well. I sadly say they do not as it does not sit flush against the skin where the gusset should be. You can see below it is around an inch away, and I am so gutted!!

Anyways I took care rolling them up the legs, especially over my anklets and then I had to tug the rest of it up.

On The Legs: let’s start off with some good comments, with the first being the colour. So I expected it to be a little darker and richer in colour, but I ended up with what you see below. I thought it wasn’t too bad after I dressed them up. I haven’t really come across a colour like this before in a sheer-like denier so it made a change. I also added some images with flash so you can see ho it slightly changes.

The quality of these is not that great to be honest; I suppose it doesn’t help that this is a size smaller than what I would need, but the markings that you see on the legs really did frustrate me. They were so obvious and there was nothing I could do to get rid of the either. I can’t say I had enough stretch in these either as I was really testing them today.

The fit is way off, and you would have seen that in the section above where the gusset doesn’t even sit flush against the skin. These were to small for me, and it was hard to keep them up. I could still walk about in them but it was so uncomfortable feeling them slip down the thighs.

The feel of these are pretty rough and grainy, especially as they are stretched more than they should be. They didn’t itch the legs or anything, but they weren’t that comfortable to wear if I am honest.

The Toes & Ankle: so these have reinforced toes to them which is great, but they did feel the pressure throughout the day as I had to keep tugging them up. I did have wiggle room if I didn’t have to stretch them out so much, but all that went out the window really.

I did have a fitted finish around the feet and ankles, but once again it wasn’t that comfortable.

The Waistband & Gusset: now it gets better. Not only did I have the issue of them falling down but there was no elastic in the band; to the point they had nothing to hold them up around the waist at all. They slipped right on down. It was so bad – I actually don’t know how I lasted half a day in them to be honest.

But yeah.. I was working with a non-existent band which does nothing for me and the tights.

And there is no gusset to these; it is just a seam.

My Thoughts?

Nope I would not recommend at all, although I would like to see what one size up would be like and if I still have the same issues!
