Let’s kickstart Valentine’s week with some Gio!
Gio is making its way back onto the blog, and this time we are dressing a little vintage. I do love creating classic looks, and sometimes simple is the way forward when it comes to a luxe pair of stockings.
If you haven’t seen my previous reviews, you can hit the links below (opens in a new tab) or you can just pop in Gio in the search bar:
Size: Small (shoe size 4-5; 5’2″-5’6″)
Materials: 100% Nylon
I popped on my bodycon chiffon polka dot dress paired with matching open toe sandals to create a timeless look. I kept jewellery to a minimum by wearing white pearl studs only.
Dress: Jane Norman
Heels: Dorothy Perkins
From The Website: Authentic 100% nylon reinforced heel and toe (RHT) stockings, without a seam, from British brand, Gio.
These genuine 1950’s vintage style nylon stockings are luxurious and silky, 100% nylon, and are designed to fit the leg perfectly. They are a seamless alternative to the Fully Fashioned Stockings. They come with a reinforced heel and toe, are 15 denier, high-gloss and sheer, yet silky smooth to the touch. Being 100% nylon, they don’t stretch, so please select your correct size from the chart below.
Hand made in England using traditional methods. The perfect vintage stockings.
If you have very slim, or slightly petite legs, then it may be best to choose a size smaller than your usual size.
Complimentary hand wrapped in tissue and ribbons

RHT – Reinforced Heel and Toe
Perfect vintage style stockings
Denier: 15 – sheer
The Packaging: I ordered these from Mayfair Stockings (along with another pair that I have reviewed not too long ago – Obsessive White Stockings) and it came beautifully wrapped.
I have done a fair few Gio Stockings before, and they ll come pretty much the same. You get he model wearing the pair on the front with a small peephole at the side, and the back goes into little detail. When you get in, you will find these wrapped carefully around card that is covered in tissue paper.
Getting Them On: well I won’t say much as I want you to scroll down a touch for this part. They are super easy to get on the legs, especially going over anklets too. As long as you take care when putting on your hosiery and taking it off, they will last you 🙂
Now check out the video below…
On The Legs: well I had the time of my life wearing these today. I felt so vintage in my attire, and I loved it!
The quality of the stockings are great; I do love Gio for that reason. I always try my hardest to take care of them so they can take care of me over and over. I didn’t have any rips or snags to report, which is always good news in my eyes!
The fit of them were a little big for me, especially further up the legs but I didn’t let that bother me to be honest. I don’t mind it when it’s slightly loose – it gives it more of a vintage feel really than being super tight on the legs.
The feel of them were amazing; they were silky soft and super smooth inside and out so your legs just glide right off one another.
The colour was a favourite of mine; I think I prefer Ivory to White because it has a softer look to it than White does.
I find it easy to pair up with Ivory!
The Toes & Ankle: yep I went a little mad with the toe pictures in this blog – I wanted to show you what they looked like out of the sandals I was in. These have reinforced toes and heels, so the denier will become a little thicker and darker in colour compared to the rest of the foot.
As you can see below, they were slightly baggy around my toes, but not greatly that it moves out of place. I had plenty of room for my toes to breathe and move freely too.
Around the feet, these moved a little but not so much they moved out of place. The same goes for the ankle area; I had a few wrinkles as expected but not so many that they looked oversized on me.
The Bands: as the stockings were a little too long for my legs, I ended up having to fold the belt in slightly and then claps it in place to make sure that they sit in place. I used a double 6-clasp this time, however I might change it to a normal 6 claps next time to make sure they don’t sit as low as they are on the thighs currently. I didn’t have much leeway with the straps this time, which meant they couldn’t sit higher up the legs.
Anyways with the bands, these are lovely. They are silky smooth and they end up stretching out to the width of your thighs to make sure you have a comfortable fit. These did end up stretching out and staying stretched once I was done with them, but that means I get the exact same fit next time I wear them.
The band is a little denser compared to the rest of the legs; this is to act as a reinforcement so the claps can grip on well. It then turns into a lighter denier (around an inch underneath) and then it’s super sheer from thereon to the toes.
Overall I did like the bands on these stockings; they were comfortable, they sat really well on the thighs and they look gorgeous!
I would recommend this pair for sure! I loved being in them, and they looked amazing with polka dots! They fit really nice on the legs, even though they were slightly long for me and they looked beautiful against my skin tone too.
