A massive Happy New Year to you beauties! I wanted to do something extra special for you all today, but as the dress I wanted to do it in doesn’t fit me anymore, I had to substitute at the very last minute.
So I do apologise this isn’t a glammed up blog for you all…
However, I wanted to start it off right by trying out the new Charnos re-cycled tights. I heard so much about them, and I finally get to give them a go myself. I love the whole sustainable fashion trend that is taking over the world, and I will be making a conscious effort to be purchasing more eco-friendly and re-cycled hosiery for the blog just to show you all how great those can be too!
Materials: 83% Polyamide, 17% Elastane
Now as my dress flopped on me, I thought I would do a funky alternative for you. I paired up my ribbed bodysuit with my striped skater midi skirt and paired up my glam heels from Onlymaker. I did add long earrings and minimal makeup.
Bodysuit: New Look
Skirt: Independent Brand
From The Website: Re Cycled is a brand new range from Charnos that we absolutely love. It is, as the name suggests, a range made from recycled material and off cuts, the scraps left behind from the used bolts of cloth. They reconstitute these into regular fibre, which ends up being the exact same quality of fabric, but saves on so much landfill waste. And what’s more, the result is an amazing pair of sheer tights. These 15 denier tights are smooth, comfortable, gorgeous looking and durable, and might just become your favourite new everyday legwear. Many companies want to be more and more ethical if they can, and leave a better world than the one they found. Here, Charnos are doing their part too.

The Packaging: these come in card packaging, which is sturdy and tough enough. I have to say it is pretty hard to rip (I love this about it). the hosiery has no plastic around it whatsoever when you get inside. I really do love this packaging.
Oh and let me say that the tights are flat folded so there is no foot or leg shaping to it.
Getting Them On: I made sure that I wore hosiery gloves getting these on (satin ones) as I did not want to create any snags. I took my time getting them on the feet, and over my anklets.
I did find when I was rolling them up that you will have some light and dark patches around the legs. Whilst the gloves are on, you can just rub them to smooth it out. I had to do it a few times as around the knees and parts of the thigh were darker than the rest of the legs, so I had to sort it before I became super frustrated.
On The Legs: let me start off by saying that these are a pure matte finish. There is no shine to them at all, and you can tell when you touch them. Mine ended up picking up fluff bits wherever I went, so I had to keep dusting myself off from time to time. I love pure matte as it looks amazing on the legs. These are supposed to be 15 denier but look so much darker – all because of the matte finish.
The quality of them aren’t compromised at all – I felt if anything they felt so great on the legs and they were pretty hard to snag. There were a few close calls but I managed to swerve them (phew moment). I do feel these could last you a long time as long as you take care of them.
The fit of them are true to size with very little stretch to them, so you will need to make sure you get the size (or nearest size) to fit you as over-stretching them doesn’t look great on the legs when you end up with a weird ombre effect.
The feel of them are soft but not as smooth as you would think. It’s more of a semi-velvet feel to them, which I don’t mind. However this won’t work under certain clothing that may cling. This is not the pair to wear if you’re wanting your clothes to sway around the legs; this will make them cling. There is one skirt I know I can’t pair with these as it would just stick to the legs as soon as I start moving.
The Toes & Ankle: well I was super happy to see that these have reinforced toes on them! You will see this little strip going across mid-under the toes, which may make it slightly hard to wear sandals with (but do your best here).
I had plenty of wiggle room in them, and that goes for the feet and ankles too. There wasn’t any pressure applied around this area, and it meant that I could last hours on end in them!
Around the ankles, you get this gorgeous fitted finish.
The Waistband & Gusset: so as you can see below, these have a good waistband to them. These are nicely fitted around the waist and stay put all day long without any issues; squeezing my waist, falling down, rolling over itself etc. I felt so comfortable wearing these all day.
You can also see under the band and around the seam it’s reinforced as well with a thicker denier, so I am super happy about that!
The gusset is a small piece (around palm size) which sits right in the middle of the tights. It’s super soft and breathable too, so if you wish to go commando – you’re good!
I have to say that these are a great pair; I mean I wouldn’t say there are so many differences from re-cycled and a ‘normal’ pair but I do like the fact that you’re helping the environment. I will certainly be trying out more eco pairs to see what they’re like!
I would certainly recommend these for sure!
