John Lewis & Partners 15D Gloss Hold Ups

Right onto another pair of John Lewis branded hosiery. This time I wanted to try their gloss hold ups as they looked pretty nice for the price. Sometimes I find that high store brands can be just as good so it’s always worth giving them a go from time to time – just in case you find a gem!

Now this shoot was in a secret location – I was away fora few days and decided to make the most of the room I was in!

The Review

From The Website: Give a touch of decadent glamour to your after-work look with these glossy hold ups from John Lewis & Partners.

Designed with a beautiful sheen that will flatter your legs for an alluring finish, the pair boasts a wide floral lace top for comfortable, mark-free and seductive wear.

The Packaging: we are looking at simple packing, with the model on the front wearing the hosiery and the back going into detail about the composition and benefits.

When you get in, you will find these wrapped around card, vertically folded so you get that foot and leg shaping to it.

To my surprise, you will find these to have 1 silicone band at the top of the lace, and to be honest it took no effort to prise it away – which means their hold won’t be as great as I would have expected.

On The Legs: I gotta say these are looking pretty damn nice!

The colour is kinda what I expected but not what I expected if that makes sense; it took my by surprise how light these were in colour, to the point they look grey rather than black. I thought it would have been a touch darker, but I suppose we shall work with a grey-ish colour instead 🙂

The quality of them are pretty great to be honest; I didn’t have high expectations to begin with as I have never tried them out before and don’t really know who has, but they did serve me well throughout the evening. I didn’t come across any snags or rips at all, and there was a nice little bit of stretch to them as well.

The fit of them were true to size on the leg, however the band was a little loose. I will get to that further down though. They hugged the legs really well and I had no issues.

The feel of them were so silky soft and really smooth; they just felt amazing to the point my dress was gliding against them the whole night.

The Toes & Ankle: so the toes are not reinforced, but they are completely sheer so these would work well with sandals and peep toe shoes. There was plenty of wiggle room in them and no pressure was added at all during the wear.

Around the ankles, they were lovely and flush against the skin.

The Band: so the band – not that great to be honest. I didn’t tug these right to the top where I would normally wear them as there wasn’t enough stretch for me to do so. When I did sit them mid thigh I found that they didn’t stick as well as fresh silicone bands do. There was some gapping to it, and the silicone band wasn’t gripping that well. I was really disappointed with these to be honest.

My Thoughts?

Overall I think they are great but the bands just let it down completely. For the first time wearing them and experiencing this brand in holdups, I wasn’t impressed with that. If they had a double band instead of 1 thick one, this might have helped, although the main issue was the lack of sticky-ness the silicone had.

I’m glad I tried them out but this time, I would day it’s a no from me
