Now these are my little bargain. I went into John Lewis to get a few pairs of hosiery to review, and I saw these hung up in the reduced section. These were originally £20.00 (which I though was stupidly steep for a simple opaque pair) and when I got to the till, they went down in price to £10.00, which I thought was reasonable.
I was done with opaques for a while, but I saw these and thought they were super cute! I managed to get hold of the online link for those who wish to purchase a pair 🙂
Denier: Around 30-40
Materials: 88% Polyamide, 12% Elastane
Price: £20.00 / Sale £10.00
I changed my jumper last minute this morning, and my skirt as well to be fair as it was too short for work and the new skirt with the jumper didn’t go.
Anyways I opted for light and bright today with my cream knitted jumper, paired with my faux leather burgundy skirt and added my yellow booties for that extra pop. I kept my hair half back. half down as it’s hair wash day and I didn’t want to do a standard ponytail!
Tights: John Lewis
Boots: New Look
Lipstick: Hug Me by Mac
From The Website: Keep it funky with these John Lewis Sparkle Spotted Opaque Tights.
Crafted from a stretchy fabric, the pair feature a bright all over polka dot design and offer a soft feel on the skin. Its thick texture will make it suitable for the colder seasons .
The Packaging: so as these were in store, they were in open packaging and could have got damaged so damn easily. The card was bulging out instead of sitting neat inside the leg and it was just a mess when I picked them up. Luckily they were completely fine before I paid for them (in terms of quality and snagging)
So basically below is what you get. They are basically wrapped with very little detail in terms of denier, any blurb etc. So I suppose we roll with it 🙂
On The Legs: I have to say these aren’t as opaque as I thought they would be. I would put them down to be roughly 30-40 denier, which would be semi-opaque in my eyes so you still get sheerness coming through.
I thought these looked adorable on; a very cute touch to the outfit to be honest. I think that’s why I was so adamant to put coloured boots with this rather than black shoes or boots. Plus it’s great for this time of year as it’s still a little chilly but perking up slowly. Then again, the UK weather doesn’t follow the seasons as it should, so we might expect snow again soon!
The quality of these are real good, they have that ladder-proof feel to them if I am honest. It has a lot of stretch in them considering they are a size small (so not double sized) which I am pleased about. There has been no signs of snagging or catching throughout the day which I am super pleased about too!
The fit of them are perfect; they fit like a glove and not too tight on the legs either which I like. You have plenty of room to maneuver in these. You will know what I mean when you see the images of me stretching them out below. The feel of them are super soft and so smooth. The polka dots have added silver glitter on top (which by the way does fall off everywhere) but it’s not irritable on the legs. these start from under the toes and works its way up mid-thigh.
The design is so cute, and I can see these being worn the whole year round. One thing I did notice is that these form a diamond-like design on the legs. I don’t know if that was their intention but you surely see it when these are stretched across the legs. I thought it was pretty funky to be fair.
The Toes & Ankle: enough wiggle room and no added pressure on to the toes. I am not too sure if these are reinforced you know (I highly doubt it to be honest but you never know), so fingers crossed! As the legs, these have plenty of stretch around this area.
Around the ankles, these are a lovely fitted finish.
The Waistband: is really good! I didn’t know what to expect to be honest when I got them on, but they’re elasticated well, they are so smooth on the waist, they hug really well throughout the day and they don’t roll over itself to create little bumps. I am seriously impressed with these!
I think this pair is brilliant – I would certainly say it’s worth the £10.00 I spent to be honest. I think it’s steep for £20.00, but nonetheless I think they’re amazing. I have had no issues, I loved being in them and adding a subtle sparkle to my outfit and the quality is great!
