Hello Aristoc! This is a brand from the UK that I do really like and I have reviewed in the past a few times too!
So I have been in smoothing tights before (mainly before I started to review) and I love the way they work under fitted clothing. I know the outfit I am in today isn’t fitted, but I will be trying on another dress with it to see what they’re like.
Size: Small / Medium
Materials: 85% Nylon, 15% Elastane
Now let’s go a little grunge-y just because this is a new dress and I flipping love it right now! I just teamed this up with my dune suede heels and kept my hair undone and messy!
From The Website: Ultimate 15 is the best quality range from Aristoc’s collection. Whilst most of their range is aimed at being worn every day, this line is their high end offering. It is amazingly well made and as good as an item twice its price. This 15 denier version fills the gap between their very sheer 10 denier and their 20 denier. This version is their smoothing tights option, with a gentle body toning effect for a smooth silhouette. This item has flat seams and no waistband for a comfy and subtle fit.
* 15 denier
* Waistband free
* Cotton gusset
* Flat seams
* Matt appearance
* Lightly reinforced toe
* 85% Nylon
* 15% Elastane
The Packaging: so the front has got the chick jumping in her hosiery (as you do) and the back goes into a little more detail:
“The Ultimate in sheer matt luxury, these tights give you a beautifully flawless sheer look on leg. The body is sleek and flattering with just enough control to give you a smooth silhouette, perfect for wearing under more fitted clothes. The tights have no waistband which means they won’t dig in or cause unsightly bulges and you can adjust them to a position which is comfortable for you.
This Aristoc range offers the ultimate in luxury hosiery.”

So getting inside then, these are super long which means they have plenty of stretch to them (this is gonna be fun to play with!)
The top of them are a lot thicker as they have the shaper start from the boxer brief to the non-waistband
Getting Them On: okay so here goes … my first problem was this little piece of fabric that appeared as I was rolling them up and realised when I had set my tights!
Now I gotta say as these have plenty of stretch, you don’t feel the need to tug up the leg as you normally might do, however I found no matter what I do I did not get an even coverage! I tried like 5 times before I gave up and rolled with it to work.
When I did really tug these up the legs, I found that you get the 15 denier coverage but you’re left with a lot of extra nylon hanging just under the tushy! You just can’t win!
On The Legs: just to make it easier I thought I would circle the sections that I had issues with (which is most of the leg – yep I know) …
So the denier is 15 which to me looked a little like 20 on the legs. But either way, I won’t complain I will just roll with it. I do love the look of them when the light is on them to give that lovely coverage, but what lets this down is the quality.
The quality of them … I am super disappointed. I love Aristoc but this time they have let me down. I am hating the lines and patchy parts on the legs and it just looked so weird. Even colleagues were asking what was wrong with the tights I was in! It was patchy, it was streaky, it was just not right … and nothing I did made it any better!
The fit of them were great; they were more than enough for my size and height. The feel of them on the other hand were rough – and it just made things worse in my eyes! They felt so grainy and was this really weird texture when you rubbed your hands against them.
The Toes & Ankle: so the toes… They were decent. A part that actually I don;t have anything to complain about. They are slightly reinforced so you do still need to take care with long sharp nails, but there was plenty of wiggle room and no signs of them putting pressure on the toes during the day.
The ankles were a nice smooth finish, which I liked!
The Waistband & Gusset: okay so the waistband (or non-waistband) is super soft and comfortable to be in all day. They fit really well and didn’t feel too snug on the waist which I liked.
Now negative point ; I don’t get how these are smoother tights? I wore these under a bodycon dress (after I got out my black dress) and even then I didn’t see a difference from a normal pair of tights. Not only that, they have no control to them whatsoever. They literally felt like any other pair. I have worn control tights before and even the lightest you can still slightly feel it, but these I felt were ‘dud’.
To be frank, I don’t really like these. I felt they were useless in terms of the ‘smoother’ and ‘control’ they were supposed to have. The denier was just weird, the quality is real poor and I really didn’t like the way they looked on the legs. I felt Aristoc could have done so much better!
