Wolford Katy Lace-Up Tights

So this pair I have been dying to get ever since I went to Berlin (this was in December 17) – I fell in love with them as soon as I saw it on the model. I kept saying I will get them one day when I have caught up with all my other reviews so I can go shopping and buy a good few pairs myself … And then one of my amazeball followers decided to gift me them from Amazon!

Now I finally have the chance to do them!

My Outfit

Keeping it monochrome like I normally do (all dark and blah like) with my grey knitted top with my black bodycon skirt making the legs the statement piece (as always)

I added my mules to this outfit to show off the design right to the heels so you can see how far it works down without giving it all away.

The Review

From The Website: These Katy Tights from Wolford have a delicate bondage strap look that wraps around the leg from ankle to thigh. Featuring a criss cross style to give a bondage or ballerina ribbon appearance. These sheer 15 denier tights have a soft knitted waistband and are comfortable for all day wear. Pair with a plain skirt or casual dress to give a dramatic finish to your everyday look or match with a little black dress and heels for a glamorous party piece. Includes a luxury matte finish. 72% Nylon, 21% Polyester, 7% Elastane

  • Lace Up Ballerina Effect
  • 15 Denier Appearance
  • Polyamide
  • Sheer
  • High Quality Yarns
  • Soft Knitted Waistband
  • Matte Finish

The Packaging: the front shows the model wearing them in the colour black/black (which I think is a subtle version of the pair I have). The back goes into more detail about the sizing, hosiery care and the following:

“Sophisticated lace: These matt tights feature contrasting bands that are decorated with rings. They create an attractive, opaque, and sheer effect from the ankle up to the thigh. Comfortable, soft knitted waistband. A styling highlight.”

When you get inside, you will find these wrapped around promotional card, with the certificate of quality (you need to make sure these have it in so you know it’s a genuine pair) and they are ready to go!

They are subtly shaped to the legs as well, so when you’re ready to scrunch and roll, just follow the crease down the legs and voila!

Getting Them On: I did these with my gloves on just to make sure I take care getting them on over anklets. It makes it easier and you don’t have to worry so much about your nails causing any issues!

Anyways so when you’re rolling on, try and make sure you can do your symmetrical line up as you go along. I had to roll down and back up again as I forgot its identical! I got there in the end!

On The Legs: once they’re on, you’re rolling!

The denier is 15 so you have got some lovely sheer coverage, to help that bondage look really pop (especially in gobi!) I felt these were thicker than 15’s but either way I love it!

The fit is super awesome; they hardly move throughout the day and fit the legs so well. There isn’t any gapping whatsoever, which makes the bondage look a lot more ‘real’. I say real as my colleagues thought I actually tied ribbon around my legs to create that look; little did they know it was just the design of them LOL!

The feel is super soft and so nice; inside and out, these feel great on the legs.

The deign is just to die for; I was a little OH MY GOD at first, but when I got the outfit together it didn’t seem so bad. It does look very statement-y but don’t let that phase you as they look fab on! One thing I only noticed later during the day is the thigh detail; they have these turned entwined rings around some of the bands which looks super awesome!

The quality I never have an issue with as it’s Wolford and I rarely encounter problems with their brand.

The Toes: there’s not much to say here to be honest. The toes aren’t reinforced but as long as you’re nails aren’t sharp or too long, you should be fine in them. There is plenty of wiggle room in them too and no extra material on the sides of the toes either!

One thing I wasn’t keen on was the bands starting mid way on the feet; they made my feet look so stumpy and weird which I didn’t really like, hence why I opted for mules so I could cover most of it.

The Waistband & Gusset: the waistband has got to be one of my favourite parts of Wolford hosiery in general. It is so comfortable and so soft on the waist, it’s just great. You don’t suffocate in them throughout the day (and it doesn’t matter how much you eat either as I am a massive foodie!) and they hold up so well without them rolling down.

I love the fit and feel of them as I do with all of their hosiery, so always a positive blurb from me on this section!

My Thoughts?

I am really digging these, and if you can get yourself a pair then do so. They look great on the legs and have that grungy ballerina look to them; I can’t say it’s soft and feminine, but I still love them!

The quality is great and the design is super awesome to turn your outfit into something subtly edgy!
