Emilio Cavallini Lace Tights

So this pair I bought quite recently in the Accessorize sale – I couldn’t help myself! I walked in looking for some earrings (as you do) and then I always have to sneak a peak at the hosiery and socks section. I saw these and fell in love, but I have to admit I was pretty hesitant in getting them at first; I saw ONE SIZE!

Now normally one size it can either be your best friend or it can be a damn waste of time. Now after a few hours later (and shopping elsewhere) I came back and ended up buying them to review. I haven’t done that netty lace pattern for so long and I really couldn’t help myself this time!

My Outfit

Now seeing as these have a lot going on, I went for a plain outfit to dress them right. I wore my white t-shirt dress and paired my think waterfall jacket on top.

I added my boots and kept jewellery to a minimum with this as it was a busy day at work and didn’t feel like going all OTT.

I left my hair down and out… and toddled off to work!

The Review

The Packaging: as this was on the shelf, the packaging was open (not a good thing here by the way – I’ll mention why a little later) so you can see and feel the hosiery. The front and back is bare basic to be honest; it gives the brand name, no make or model of them and the sizing guide.

Nothing to really write about.

Getting inside, these have a long strip of card in one leg, which is here my nightmare comes true; I see the damn snags! I see them dotted about on one damn leg!

Getting Them On: so I would advise hosiery gloves and care when getting these on as they are delicate and will snag easily! I would scrunch and roll both legs, bot taking the risk of pulling up until you’re around thigh level. With anklets, if you can I would take them off with these as a precaution if they are sharp or are prone to catching.

On The Legs: okay so once they’re on I gotta say that these fit so great! I half expected them to be quite baggy or roomy on the legs and waist, but I am amazed. They hug the legs really well and don’t twist or turn throughout the day either.

The denier is just fab for the design to stand out and be its own masterpiece, however does snag easily as they are quite rough textured on top. It’s the type that fluffs up when bodycons rubs against them and catch easily onto anything sharp!

I love that you don’t need to worry about which way the pattern turns with these as they don’t have to be symmetrical if you don’t want them to be. I normally like mine to be because it looks great visually, but for those who don’t… well nothing stopping you here!

The Toes & Ankles: so the toes have enough wiggle room in them and are covered by a thin strip of plain denier. I think this might be reinforcement or just the strip that the design needs to start from. Either way, long nails would be ok(ish) in them as long as they aren’t too too long or sharp!

Now around the ankles I found this to crinkle slightly; I took these images at the end of the day so you can see what they would be like once you get home and ready to chill. It’s not too bad, but then again as I’m short and bottom legs are quite slim, it may fall, but with slightly plumper legs, this might not be the case.

I suppose one size has to cater for all really, so I can’t really complain about them!

The Waistband & Gusset: I have never seen a waistband this long before; it goes right under my chest! When I was rolling up, I didn’t think it was gonna stop you know! Although saying that, not once has it rolled down on itself or slightly fallen so the gusset doesn’t sit flush against me. It has been one hell of a good band to be fair!

It’s comfortable, you actually forget that you have it on as it sits so high up, and there is plenty of elasticity in these to cater for a good few sized up. I wouldn’t say Large or X-Large but around Medium-Large for sure.

Now the gusset part is interesting – there isn’t one in these! I thought there might have been, but nope! It’s just hosiery all over!

My Thoughts?

I gotta say that these are to die for; my new team loved them and wouldn’t stop complimenting me on them either. The design is just fab; I love bold prints and the denier is just right for the colder months too. The quality could have been better I must say, but otherwise these are not bad.

If these were in proper plastic packaging, I would have recommended these as you know that they would have been untouched when you buy them, but seeing as these were open on the shelf getting snagged, then maybe not.

Another note would be if they actually did it split sizing, so S-M or M-L rather than one size to make it better suited to body types. I understand that they wanted to make it generically for everyone, but I thought I would give my 2 pence worth input here!
