And I have another one from the Girl Up collection to review for you today! I’m working my way through all the previous sent before I can make a start on the new ones. It has now resorted to wearing hosiery EVERYDAY for me to catch up on all the ones I have left to go through!
As I have a lot of the Girl Up Collection to get through (and they’re pretty much the same spec just different designs), the reviews will be a little shorter than normal as it’s more about the design and the quality of that pair rather than everything else I normally blog about.
Size: 2 / Small
Materials: 94% Polyamide / 5% Elastane / 1% Metallic Yarn
Website: Gatta Girl-Up 26 Patterned Tights
Seeing as I was only nipping into town, I decided to pull out my bodycon dress I haven’t worn in a while and team it up with my work shirt and my new Dr Martens. I know the shirt should have been more of a casual one, but I can’t seem to find it anywhere around the house!
I left my hair down, with the fringe swept to the side and just added studs to finish the look.
Boots: Dr Martens
The Packaging: just like the rest of the Girl Up collection – drawn woman with the hosiery on. The back of the packaging stated the following:
“Fancy ladies’ tights with the addition of elastane yarn”
Getting Them On: I scrunch and rolled on, making sure that the design stayed straight-ish at the front so it’s less hassle to line up when it gets to that point. Most of the leg is in a thicker denier with the top being around 15-20 sheer and the pattern sewn in. these were real easy to put on, so no need for hosiery gloves (unless you have super long nails which may snag them).
The Toes: well I think you can say that these are slightly reinforced due to the high denier, but otherwise they do the job. There’s wiggle room and they don’t crease too much on the ankle either. I know that some hosiery do when it’s thicker, but these aren’t so bad!
The Waistband: is pretty funky. I love the way the design works right to the top of the band, so anything short will work with these nicely. The band itself isn’t really thick, and sits just around the belly button on me. I have to say these are comfortable to be in the whole day.
The Design: I have grown to love. At first I was hesitant, but once I styled them, they actually seemed ok. I know they would have worked better with a work outfit, but I thought I would give it a go in casual. The design is only at the front which leaves the back looking like you have over the knee socks on.
The denier is really good on these as I haven’t managed to snag them all day. One thing to be mindful of is that once stretched, it doesn’t have the full opaque look to them. So if that is something you’re after, you may want to reconsider this pair.
The feel of them are soft, and smooth and I had no issues with them all day. The top of them you may want to be a little careful with, but otherwise it’s all good.
It’s a decent pair, and I think they’re worth it. They’re not really my cup of tea, but they do look cute though (maybe on someone else rather than me). The quality is decent and the look is something that can be styled for work, or for a night out; depending on what you’re after.
